Concord grew fast after the war, and thousands of homes still have their first aluminum windows. They let heat and cold straight through, sweat on winter mornings, and the tracks wear until the sash barely moves. Most can be done as a retrofit, so the stucco outside is never touched.
Homes from the 1980s and 90s often came with entry-level vinyl. After 30 years of Concord sun the seals fail, the glass fogs between the panes, and the frames chalk and warp. A failed seal can’t be reliably repaired, so replacement is the lasting fix.
Concord sits behind the hills, away from the bay’s cooling, and summer afternoons often reach the 90s. Dual-pane Low-E glass with an argon fill blocks much of that heat while keeping rooms bright. It’s the single biggest comfort upgrade we install here.
Near Highway 4, I-680, BART or Buchanan Field? Laminated glass cuts noise far more than standard dual-pane. We use it where it matters, usually bedrooms.
