Sliding Patio Doors

The sliding glass door is the backyard door in most East Bay homes, and many are still the original aluminum ones that stick, leak air and barely lock. A new slider glides with a finger, seals tight and keeps summer heat outside.

Panels That Glide on a Track

A sliding patio door has one or more glass panels that roll sideways on a track, usually with one fixed panel and one that slides. Because nothing swings into the room, it saves floor space and works well where furniture sits close to the door.

Modern sliders roll on sealed, adjustable rollers over a stainless or aluminum track, lock at multiple points, and use dual-pane Low-E glass. Three and four panel versions open wider for bigger rooms.
