Martinez is the Contra Costa County seat and one of its oldest towns, and the streets around Main Street still have Victorians and early 1900s cottages with original wood windows. Replacement double-hungs in wood-look or fiberglass frames keep the narrow sight lines these houses were built with, so the front of the house still looks right while you gain dual-pane glass.
The Capitol Corridor and freight trains run along the waterfront, and Highway 4 and I-680 carry traffic around the city. Laminated glass, or dual-pane units with panes of different thickness, block noticeably more sound than standard dual-pane glass. We recommend it for the rooms where it matters, usually bedrooms facing the tracks or the road.
