Vinyl Windows

Vinyl is the most popular replacement window in the East Bay, and for good reason: it insulates well, never needs painting, and gives most homes the best performance for the money. Modern vinyl is a long way from the cheap builder windows of the 1990s.

Multi-Chamber Frames That Insulate

Vinyl windows use frames extruded from PVC, with hollow chambers inside that trap air and, in better windows, foam or reinforcement. The color goes all the way through, so there’s nothing to paint and scratches don’t show.

Quality varies a lot between brands and series. Good vinyl uses fusion-welded corners, UV-stable formulas made for sun, and reinforced frames that stay straight, which is why the brand and line you choose matter more than the word vinyl.

Vinyl Window FAQ

Straight answers from the people who install them.

Good vinyl from a quality brand is excellent and lasts for decades. The cheap builder vinyl many people remember is a different product from the reinforced, UV-stable lines we install.
Yes. Several brands offer black or bronze exteriors made for sun exposure, such as Anlin Designer Black and Milgard and Alside exterior colors.
Vinyl gives the best value. Fiberglass costs more but is stronger, slimmer and more stable in heat, which matters for big windows and dark colors on sunny walls.
Quality vinyl made for the West is formulated for sun and heat. For very large or dark windows on hot west walls, we may suggest fiberglass instead.
It depends on the brand, series, size, style and glass, and on how many windows you’re replacing. We measure first and give you a fair, detailed written quote for free, and the quote is the price you pay.
