Homes from this era often came with aluminum windows or early vinyl. After decades of valley sun, the seals fail and the glass fogs, frames warp, and sliders drag. Replacement windows fit the existing openings and come in the traditional styles these homes were built with.
Blackhawk and Diablo are outside town limits, so permits there go through Contra Costa County, and both have architectural review for exterior changes. Larger custom homes often call for premium wood-clad or fiberglass windows in specific colors. We prepare the submittals and handle the permit.
Danville summers are hot and dry, and big west-facing windows can turn family rooms into ovens. Low-E glass built for hot climates blocks much of that heat while keeping rooms bright, and fiberglass frames stay stable even in dark colors.
Homes along I-680 and the busier valley roads do best with laminated or sound-rated glass in the bedrooms.
